Learn how FortiOS 8.0 enables NAC segmentation using EAP identity within the FortiOS Switch Controller. This feature allows FortiSwitch Network Access Control (NAC) and 802.1X MAC-based authentication to operate together on the same switch port, enabling dynamic VLAN assignment based on authenticated user identity and group membership. In this video, we demonstrate how NAC user policies interact with 802.1X authentication workflows, how authenticated devices are matched against user groups returned by the RADIUS server, and how matching devices are automatically assigned to a designated VLAN. We also explore the new CLI configuration to manage the firewall authentication user hold period using the "allow-idle" parameter in the firewall auth MAC list. This configuration controls how long authenticated devices remain in the firewall authentication table before NAC policy matches are removed.
